Nam et ipsa scientia potestas est (And thus knowledge itself is power)
-- Sir Francis Bacon.

Scientia Pro Publica (Science for the People) blog carnival was just published! The "Scientia Pro Publica 18: The Last of the Oughties Edition" of Scientia Pro Publica is hosted by Madhu at Reconciliation Ecology. This blog carnival celebrates the best science, nature and medical writing published in the blogosphere within the past 60 days.

To send your science, nature or medical writing to Scientia Pro Publica, either use this automated submission form or use the cute little widget on the right email it directly to its email address; ScientiaBlogCarnival@gmail.com. Be sure to include the URL or "permalink", the essay title and, to make life easier for the host, please include a 2-3 sentence summary. Remember, this blog carnival focuses on communicating to the public, so your essays must be understandable to non-specialists. Further, this blog carnival is not a vehicle for transmitting pseudoscience or advertising -- there are plenty of venues available for that.

For the upcoming issue -- the first one of 2010 -- on 18 January, I will be assisting host Bob O'Hara, author of recently reanimated science blog, Deep Thoughts and Silliness. If you are interested in hosting this carnival on your blog, please contact me as soon as possible or notify the current host (please note that I prefer hosts who have had their writing included in one or more editions of this carnival). I need hosts for all editions that will publish in 2010. Scientia Pro Publica is published on the first and third Monday of each month, so feel free to choose a particular date, or I'll assign you the first available date.

Correction to Host for the Upcoming Edition of Scientia

I made a mistake. Madhu, the author of Reconciliation Ecology, will be your host for the 21 December 2009 edition of Scientia. Once again, to send your science, nature or medical writing to Scientia Pro Publica, email the link directly to its email address; ScientiaBlogCarnival@gmail.com. Be sure to include (1) the URL or "permalink", (2) the essay title and, to make life easier for the host, (3) please include a 2-3 sentence summary.

For the first issue of 2010, published on 4 January, I will be assisting host Bob O'Hara, author of currently hibernating blog, Deep Thoughts and Silliness. However, hosts are needed for all editions after that.

Scientia Pro Publica: Automated Submission Errors Threaten Blog Carnival

The blog carnival submission form has not been sending submissions to the proper blog carnival email addresses, so Scientia pro Publica has ONE submission so far -- and it publishes TOMORROW!! If you have sent a submission to this carnival, PLEASE resend it immediately! I am hoping all of you come through my sending at least one science-y submission (yours or other people's) to this carnival ASAP to help out the host so she doesn't pull all her hairs out.
